I have an ancestor named Estella Bundy Hover, who was buried in Mellenville Cemetery, but I can't find any information on the internet on this cemetery. It isn't listed with switchboard or google. 1. [NYCOLUMB] Phillips-Knapp reunion
    2. Barbara de Mare
    3.   Summer is here, which means it is time to start thinking reunion.  This year the Phillips-Knapp reunion falls the weekend of September 19-20.  On Saturday the 19th we will have our traditional picnic at the park in Haverstraw.  For Sunday we have exciting new plans.   Research over the winter has revealed that Daniel, Eli and Gilbert Phillips were indeed born at Phillips Manor as some of us were told by our grandmothers.  Eli gives this information in an affidavit he filed with his Revolutionary pension application.  There is no evidence that they were part of the Phillips Family of the Manor, but could be shirt-tail relatives.  They most likely lived northeast of the Manor, in a town now called Phillipsburg.  We will continue to research this matter.   Our plans for reunion Sunday are to visit both the Phillips Manor Hall and the Phillips Farm, both of which are just across the river in Westchester County.  We will eat lunch in a nearby restaurant, and get private tours of both locations.  In addition, we will try to find a speaker who can tell us more about the Manor family and other Phillips families in the area.  It should be both fun and educational. Try to arrange to join us!   Barbara L. de Mare, Esq. Attorney, historian, genealogist, grandmother 155 Polifly Road Hackensack, New Jersey 07601 (201) 567-9440 office http://historygenealogyesq.blogspot.com/

I am looking for a Sophia Powers who married a Snyder per the Rev. War account on the Jefferson County USGen website. I believe she was the daughter of Nicholas Powers of Livingston Manor. If this line is correct then Sophia was born about 1805 and died in Ontario County, NY in 1881. She married Sherwood Snyder 1802-1872. Their daughter, Beth, married Edmund Coon in Farmington/Manchester area of Ontario County, NY about 18556. Any help with this line is greatly appreciated. I have his birth as 1845 in my records. Must have mistyped. An amusing note about Elizabeth. When I was born, my mother wanted to name me Elizabeth Van Dyke, but politely asked Dad, since she'd named my older sister. Dad chose Jean Stuart (which I've always been happy with). When my younger cousin was named Jane Elizabeth, Elizabeth Van Dyke gave her $100. Was Mother's nose out of joint! Or was it Dad's? Author: JeanCSnow Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.columbia/1123.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Cheryl, I can't tell you how thrilled I am to hear from you! I have my original post somewhere, I know, but don't have time find it at the moment - this is a difficult time for me. I live in CA, my sister in NY. She had a stroke two weeks ago, and I'm just back for a wk to catch up here, then fly back to Peekskill again next week, probably till the end of June. We've paid many research visits to Philmont and I'd love to go back again. My email is jcs2007@snowstarjean.com or snowstar@earthlink.net. I have much info about Rebecca Smith's ancestry, but am still stumped abt Cyrus Snyder's. I'm guessing he might have been of Palatine descent also, though I haven't found his birth year or place (Columbia or Dutchess, prob.) nor his death. Rebecca's 1918 obit (saying she was the daughter of Syrus Snyder!) says her husband died 15 years earlier but I have no record of where or when. She's buried in West Suffield, as she was visiting dau Minnie. Do you have anything more on that? I'm still a bit jetlagged, having returned the 3rd. Still trying to catch up here, or I'd give you more info. I won't fly back till the 11th, anyway, so we'll have time for email before I do. My sister will be thrilled to hear about you, I know. I'll also have to send you some unidentified photos which you might recognize. I'd also been in contact with a descendant of Minnie Snyder who lives in CT. My father (son of John Wortz) is still living and 90 years old, so he has provided a lot of guidance in tracking down the family especially in Philmont. If you email me we can exchange info. My email is: chercroll@nycap.rr.com Also you mention Lola Wortz with the Baldwins and music. She taught my Aunt Evelyn Wortz Dexter to play the piano! Evelyn's obit is also on this board. Lola's name was Jane Lola Wortz and she married Paul Easton. I have her obit that I can send. According to my father Geo. & Medora are buried in WORTZ/Van Deusen plot in Mellenville Cemetery.
