Her parents were Horace and Alice A.Merrihew (age 68 and 59 in the 1880 census of Altona, Clinton, NY. Arthur and Lucy had four daughters and lived in the Beekmantown-Altona area. The Rural Cemetery in West Chazy, however, has a gravestone for Horace and "his wife Olive A. Stiles/1822-1887", as well as one for "Arthur McKenney and his wife Lucy." Arthur's father was James McKinney, who married Nancy Brace and lived in the same area during part of his later life. There is ALSO another line of McKinneys with at least two James McKinneys and an Arthur McKinney in the Plattsburgh-Clinton area. I come from this second McKinney line in the Plattsburgh/Clinton County. I don't know much about the Merrihews, but perhaps from the Merrihew side there is information to help me sort out these two McKinney lines and to find out where Arthur's father (James McKinney) came from. There is some chance that both lines came to NY from Maine. Will be glad to hear from you or others on the list who know of this conjunction of McKinney and Merrihew families and can help clarify the confusion.
