No, unfortunately, 1840 census is not like the 1850. Heads of household in 1840, everybody in the household for 1850 and beyond. It is unfortunate for us genealogists that census takers didn't foresee the value of this information beyond their immediate need of apportioning legislative districts. Chuck Wilcox
