My great-grandfather, William Nelson Hayes, son of Daniel and Mary of Plattsburgh, married Abigail Beulah Minckler of Grand Isle,Vt in 1846. I believe his father Daniel was born in Vermont so there appears to be many instances of people from N.Y. crossing Lake Champlain and vice versa. June
