<< If the death took place up in Clinton County, What about the McLellan Cemetery Index? I have found some interesting information I knew nothing about on those indexes. The only way it will not be listed, so they say, is, if they were buried on a private cemetery or plot. These are for public cemeteries only. >> Many of those listed in the McLellan survey are private cemeteries. You don't realize HOW private until you search for one for several hours, driving and up and down a country road in Beekmantown. I finally realized that the there a tall slab leaning against a tree was the only stone still "standing" in the cemetery. All the others--probably 15 or 20--were on the ground, most broken. Cemetery is truly on its way back to nature. Linda Guynup Dewey San Francisco
