I finally find the christening records of one of my most difficult brick walls, Margurite Harpin. Thanks to the effort of some kind person who had put the St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Dannemora, NY online. This is what I found: 11 B 11 1861 Harpin Margurite 14 Avril 1861 27 Mars Dernier Harpin Gilbert Fontain Olive Giroux Antoine St. Geroges Margurite C.F.M. Saliaz This is how I interpret what I found: Name: Margurite Harpin Christened April 14, 1861 Born March 27, 1861 Father Gilbert Harpin Mother Olive Fontain Godfather Antoine Giroux Godmother Margurite St. Geroges Priest C.F.M. Saliaz Could someone please tell me what "Dernier" is just before the name of her father. Also does anyone know anything about this family. From the 1920 Census I learned Olive Fontain was born in New York and Gilbert Harpin was born in Canada. The birth date for Margurite Harpin is correct as I have a copy of her death certificate from 1947 in Pittsfield, Ma. she married Olsemine Beaudin and the family relocated to Pittsfield and became James & Margaret Borden. Any information or suggestions on how to go further back would be greatly appreciate, this is the first time I have actually seen the name Harpin as her death certificate shows Harper. Joanne Borden
