There are mailing lists through ROOTS for the various surnames, just as there for geographic areas like this one--Clinton County. You might sign up for the lists, either using the digest format so that you will not be inundated with mail, or sign up, post and note explaining what you have and ask folks to contact you directly. Then unsubscribe from the list. A couple of years ago I found a some photographs amazingly were all well-labeled. There were two or three names so I signed up for those lists and eventually was given the phone number of someone directly descended from two of the names, and related to the others.
