    3. Have you searched the Mclellan Cemetery records available online at the USGENWEB site for Clinton County NY, and have you all tried spelling variations on the surname Stebbins? I have more than 35 variations in spelling just on my surname Weatherwax. The town clerk was correct about NY birth records, since all early records of this type were maintianed at the local town level, often these files if they existed were either lost or destroyed,or thrown out as not necessary. The SUNY Special Collections library at Plattsburgh NY might also have info in their CARDEX files, these folks are very helpful, spent 4 days there in 1997 just in the library. Also check the online USGENWEB site for Mass. Mass has records prior to 1850 available both online @usgenweb, and(www.ancestry.com) has all the early Mass records online Wayne E.
