Hi, All... Ran across another line of ARTHUR's in Clinton & Lewis Counties, NY. RICHARD and HANNAH (BRADFORD) ARTHUR lived in Westfield, MA, as of 1784 at least. They had the following sons, who moved to Clinton County, NY: RUSSELL, ELISHA (b. abt. 1784), and JOSEPH, (b. abt. 1786). According to the little info. I have, these three sons traveled with "their mother's family" from their home in Westfield, MA, to northern NY, where they settled in Martinsburg, Lewis County. The Arthur family from which I'm descended also "removed" to northern NY. Brothers Joshua Barber, Augustine, Thomas and Reuben plus two of their sisters, moved to Clinton Co. from Suffolk County, NY. Trying to find out if it is only coincidence that two apparently different Arthur families settled in the same area of northern NY. It would be great to know where "my" Arthur's came from prior to settling in Suffolk County on Long Island in the mid to late 1600's. There is some indication that they may have lived in MA first and who knows - they may have been related to the Westfield, MA, Arthur's. Is there any connection between the ARTHUR family of Richard and Hannah Arthur of Westfield, MA, and the family of JOSHUA and CHARITY HUBBARD ARTHUR of Long Island? Thanks so much.
