The request posted on this list causes me to ask a general question. Are there newspapers available for Moores in Clinton county going back as far as 1828? If so, where are they and how and who can access them? I have an ancestor who died in 1859 in Mooers and have assumed there would not be an obituary available for that ancestor or at least if there was a newspaper published at that time in Mooers, it would no longer exist. Any comments from this list? Mary, I don't believe there are any newspapers available that would cover Mooers' events that long ago. I checked with the New York State Library for available newspapers on microfilm/fiche for the civil war era (1861-1865) and was told that none existed for that location that long ago.
