The best shot is - as I told the person who posted - is a book of vital stats for the rest of the data. Most people didn't have obituaries published in a newspaper in 1828, but a listing of the death may have been in an edition. I checked with the New York State Library for available newspapers on microfilm/fiche for the civil war era (1861-1865) and was told that none existed for that location that long ago.
