    3. "Below is a partial list of the U.S. Navy crew, enlistment for 2 years, of the brig 'Eagle', 8 cannons long (18 lbs.) and 12 (32 lbs.) Carronades. It does not include the names of the prisoners from the American army stockade who were enlisted at the last minute to help man the vessel. Among musicians, the list only gives name of those who were killed, and not of the five men and one musician's wife who survived. Otherwise, the list may be of the original crew that boarded her upon launch that summer of 1814. The complement during the battle was 142. Of the 57 listed from this roster, 15 were killed and 20 were wounded, 4 were sick in the hospital on Crab Island, and 4 deserted. Those listed as 'marines' were actually army infantry afloat. Note that '+' stands for killed and '*' stands for wounded.
