Hi, Does anyone have any info on who the parents were of the following person: Jennie CARROL Age - 3 weeks Nationality - American Death Date - 15 Jun 1885 Place - Plattsburgh Thanks for any help, Linda Carroll Bifulco lbifulco@comcast.net
The Central New York Genealogical Society needs volunteers to finish indexing the Clinton County Packet so that the index can be posted to our website and searched at no cost. This will allow researchers to find ancestors and make an informed decision about purchase of the packet. To see an example of an index go to: Http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycnygs >From our home page scroll down to NEW! click on Franklin County Packet INDEX. Any ques. or comments, please reply to me. Thanks, Jim Hartigan

I am glad you wrote. I get so confused by this group. I am still trying to get proof of the connection of my Pierre/Julia couple to the other people. I am a little confused about your information that this David (b. 1844) is the one married to Julia Brothers. I could have my data base all messed up. I show the David married to Marie Emery first, and later Julia Brothers, as the son of Pierre Fournier (b.1823/25) and wife Julia Menard /Manor. That David was born in 1855. I show his siblings as Pierre(1848); William (1850)* my line; Esther (1853); Julie (1857); Emilie (1859); Henriette (1861); Cordelia (Catherine) (1863); Marie-Mathilda (1865); Adeline Addie (1868); Louis (1873-1873). The David Fournier born in 1844 I show as the son of Pierre (b.1802) Fournier and second wife Archange David. I do not have any marriage or offspring information on him. If this lineage is connected then David (1844) would be a half-brother to Pierre (1823/25). Thanks for helping me to clarify and verify this information. Hi Pat & other listers, I cannot say that I am any kind of an expert or have any resource materials in hand on the Fournier family. This is what I have found thru online resources on Esther Fournier's family. I have not found evidence of a Nellie or an "unknown" female child in her immediate family. Does not mean she does not exist. I do not remember if you had a birth date on Nellie. If Nellie married in 1860, the she was most likely born at least by 1840...in the list of children below you see there is enough time for her to squeeze in as a child of Pierre and second wife, making her a half-sister to Esther at best. Also, I do not know where all of these children were born. I understand that Pierre Hubert Fournier, IF he is indeed the one married to Julia Menard, was born in Alburg Vermont. On the proposed lineage he is shown as born in Canada. His birth could have been recorded by the traveling missionary in the home church in Canada, or as close as they were to the border they could have actually attended church in Canada. David born in 1844 is showing as baptism in Canada (as are all the children before him). I have not found the birth location of the children born after that. For a totally different reason I had already come up with the mid-1840s as the likely time that my Pierre's family moved to Clinton county. Based on the birth information on this family lineage it somewhat shows possibility of a matching timeline, which is one more reason to suspect this is indeed our line. I don't know how I missed that one. I mentioned Marie Nellie Fournier married to JB Gagne and forgot to mention that JB's brother Joseph was married to Esther Fournier. In conversations with other Gagne researchers, it is believed that Esther and Marie Nellie Fournier were sisters. I don't have that connection in my tree because I never found proof of that relationship. I have seen in Assumption of Mary that Esther and Marie were sponsors for each other's children, but I don't know if that is because they were related or that their husbands, Joseph and JB, were brothers. Hi Mary--- I'm in NC-left Plattsburgh NY in 1958 and have limited access to info also... If i could get some of my ((lazy)-lol-but don't tell them i said that) cousins that still live in the Plattsburgh area to look things up for me-- Life would be so much easier. Only one that actually works on family history in the family is me-so at times i feel very lonely, till something pops up on the net and purks me up. Than i get info for my genealogy or i'm able to help someone else. But i don't know if this will help u or not, it's a Lucie Menard m to Mose or Moyse Rougier. Lucie was born abt 1833 - also d in 1903 as your Julie, - (23JAN1903) - buried in St John's Cem. Keeseville NY. I only have one child listed for Lucie and Mose Rougier - Mose Rougier Sr. b 1854- d in Plattsburgh. Will list this line to see if any backtracking of them can be tied in with your Julie Menard. Seems like i came up with that name before so will look through my info that survived the flooding we had here a few yrs back. My mother is the Hazel Mae Rougier listed and this is as far back as i got and haven't updated in quite a while. The only Soucie I have in my database was Sarah, parents unknown, although I haven't really gotten to the point of researching her yet. She was married to Pierre Gagne, about 1882, son of Jean Baptiste Guilliame Gagne and Marie Nellie Fournier. I'm not sure exactly where they lived, but it was in Clinton County. In Assumption of Mary Church records, she is listed as Dinase Sanssouci, and Pierre's last name is listed as Gagner, a common spelling for Gagne. I see only one child listed for this couple, Mary Julie Sara Gagner, born 11/25/85, baptized 12/14/85. Sponsors were J. B. Farand and Cecelia Durette. In the 1900 census, ED 48, page 30, there is a Peter Gonyea and wife Sara listed, Peter born in NY in 1862, age 37 and Sara born in Rhode Island, parents born in Canada. Children listed are Cora, born March 1883 in MA, Julia, born in NY, Nov, age 14 (no year listed), Peter, born 1888 in MA, Samuel, born Nov, 1889 in MA, William, born Sept 1893 in MA, Clarent, born 1895 in MA and Ernest, born July 1898 in MA. I think this is the same couple, because no other children are listed in the church records (born in MA?) and Julia is the only one born in NY. She is also the right age and born in the right month. A lot of the Gagne's moved to MA around that time. This probably doesn't help much, but it at least shows how Sara moved from RI, to MA, to NY and back to MA. Were you looking for anyone in particular? I just went thru the archives for this mail list and do not find very much on my primary family. I am in California and do not have access to research materials for my areas of interest. At this point I am focusing on a specific family group. What information I show is basically all that I have. William Henry (Guillaume Henri) Fournier was born July 1850 in Plattsburgh. He was the son of Pierre Fournier (b. 1823 or 1825 d. 1901) and wife Julie Menard / Manor (b.1830 Clinton county - d. 1903) (need more on parentage of this couple). William was married 3 times I believe. I have quite a bit on the third marriage, which happened after William moved to Fall River Massachusetts. Marriage #1: F.....Mignault or possibly Bricault Born about 1855 Estimated marriage date between 1870-1877. She died 15 November 1877 in Plattsburgh. Children: believe there was at least one child born to this marriage. A William Fournier b. about 1876, grandson to Pierre & Julia, was living with the grandparents in 1880. Surname on census was FUNYA. Marriage #2: Mary D. Collins Born about March 1858 Died 23 January 1888 Children born of this marriage: There is a William showing as the oldest child...I believe this is the same William who is possibly the child of the first wife. Joseph H > b. Jan. 1880 Marguerite > b. May 1882 Rose > b. July 1883 Gracie J. > about 1884 died June 1888 Memie E. > about 1886 died June 1888 On the 1880 census I have found family members with the name spelled: Funya; Funyer; and possibly Funmier - no Fournier. I would appreciate any information on any of the above, including godparents, etc. Any lead helps! Thanks so much! Mary
Hi, I have just recently joined this list. A posting today caught my eye because this past weekend I was working on this exact family group, trying to connect them without doubt to my Fournier family. I need to go to the archives to see what has been posted already. Please forgive a little detail to establish what I am looking at. I know for a fact the William Fournier I am trying to connect with was in Fall River, Bristol county, MA from 1888. He was born in Clinton county in 1850, and to the best of my information was basically a resident there until moving to Fall River. We know that William Fournier's children also moved to Fall River, presumably at the same time. It also appears his brother Pierre & his wife Hermine also were there for the October 1888 wedding and stayed. I don't know of other family members who might have made a group relocation around the same time. Now for the details....I hope someone recognizes these people and can give me the definitive link. Joseph (1832) Gagne married Esther Fournier (1831). I believe Esther is the aunt to my William Fournier (sister to William's father Pierre). Joseph (1832) is a brother to J-B William (1835) Gagne who married Marie-Nellie Fournier on 22 April 1860 (Dannemora, Clinton county) Their son Pierre is the one married to Sarah Soucie shown in the post copied following my text. Can anyone document that Pierre Fournier married to Julia Menard/Manor is indeed the brother to Esther Fournier? Does anyone know of the relationship of this Marie-Nellie Fournier to any other Fournier family? I am also trying to document the marriages of William (1850) Fournier in Clinton county. Believe 1st was between 1870-1877 to F...Mignault or Bricault. Wife died in 1877. Perhaps there was at least one child born to this marriage (William 1876) 2nd marriage was to Mary Collins, between 1877-1880. The first child born of this union was 1880 (perhaps January). This wife died in January 1888. The two youngest children died in June 1888, and by October 2, 1888 William Fournier was married to Eulalie Dion in Fall River, MA. Thru the Dion family there are definite connections to Rhode Island too. Thanks for any help. Mary > The only Soucie I have in my database was Sarah, parents unknown, although I > haven't really gotten to the point of researching her yet. She was married > to Pierre Gagne, about 1882, son of Jean Baptiste Guilliame Gagne and Marie > Nellie Fournier. I'm not sure exactly where they lived, but it was in > Clinton County. In Assumption of Mary Church records, she is listed as > Dinase Sanssouci, and Pierre's last name is listed as Gagner, a common > spelling for Gagne. I see only one child listed for this couple, Mary Julie > Sara Gagner, born 11/25/85, baptized 12/14/85. Sponsors were J. B. Farand > and Cecelia Durette. In the 1900 census, ED 48, page 30, there is a Peter > Gonyea and wife Sara listed, Peter born in NY in 1862, age 37 and Sara born > in Rhode Island, parents born in Canada. Children listed are Cora, born > March 1883 in MA, Julia, born in NY, Nov, age 14 (no year listed), Peter, > born 1888 in MA, Samuel, born Nov, 1889 in MA, William, born Sept 1893 in > MA, Clarent, born 1895 in MA and Ernest, born July 1898 in MA. I show a Joseph Soucisse, son of Peter and Sophie Gamelin married to Sara J CROMP 23 Aug 1879 and 6 children born between Jul 1880 and 1900. My notes also say there is some confusion about the names of the parents. I show a Joseph Soucisse married to a Bertha MINER and Francis married to Genevieve DAME. Very early there is Marie Anne SOUCY, dau of Pierre SOUCY and Elizabeth FOUQUEREAU, married to Augustin DUBE 4 Jun 1721 at St Anne de Pocatiere, Quebec, CAN. Also a Marie-Anne married to Jean Baptiste CHAMBERLAND 20 Jul 1789 in Kamouraska, Que, CAN I have no connection with this family. I have just recorded these while tracing others.
I have two daughters of John Jodwin and Katherine Collette Marceline Jodoin b abt 1866 mar Ferdinand BARCOMB 24 Oct 1880 at St Edmund's in Clinton Co. Malissa/Malinda b 11 Apr 1857 married Nelson/Narcisse BERTHIAUME (BARCOMB) same place and same date. I also have a Marie Jodoin married to Louis Fecteau. This came from LIFELINES, Vol 13, A-784 submitted by Gloria Pratt. My only connection is through BERTHIAUME/BARCOMB lines.
