Hello List, Can anyone tell me where Point Rush is or was in N.Y.? Thanks, Cheryl
American Army Units There were no intact regiments. They all had accompanied General Izard to Niagara. 77 men from a variety of regiments 100 from the 15th 200 from the 13th 1,500 from the 6th, 29th, 30th, 31st, and 34th regiments 50 artillery men 700 New York militia 2,500 Vermont militia. Hello, List! I'm hoping to find additional information about my great-great-grandparents. William Barnes (c.1811-1884) married Rebecca Horton (c.1807-1874), year unknown. According to census records, their daughter Sarah (c. 1835) and son Joseph (c. 1838) were both born in New York state. The family then moved to Pennsylvania, where they had three more known children. In the 1830 census index for New York, I found four counties listing a William in the correct age range as head of house, with an adult female in the correct age range for Rebecca. This was one of those four. If anyone is researching these families, I would very much appreciate information on them and their ancestors, and can share information on some of their descendants. Information that might confirm the correct county would be especially appreciated. Thanks! John Barnes
Many thanks to all who replied. Leslie, all I have is Andrew Duely born 1820- 1823. Census information states father from Ireland, mother from Scotland. He did marry Catharine Dryden who was born in Roxbourgshire in 1825 amd immigrated to Hemmingford, QC. I would love to find a marriage certificate, around 1840- 1845. Have checked both the Protestant and Catholic records in the area with no luck. If anyone has any other thoughts please let me know. I definitely am not giving up. Somewhere there has to be a record. Good Morning Jean, Thank you for your input. I got the chance to use Heritage Quest for 3 day's on a free trial. And I did like it. There is alot more than just the census records that can be used on their site as well. And I also bought a month's subscription to Ancestry.com. And between the two, I decided to go with Heritage Quest. I just wish my own library had Heritage Quest, but that might be awhile. I wish our government spent as much on our libraries and schools as they did fighting drugs !!!! With all the money they brag about that they get from the drug dealers, why can't they give that back to the communities???? Thanks again, Sincerely, Cheryl ----- Original Message ----- From: <Jespane@cs.com> To: <NYCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, April 13, 2004 6:06 AM Subject: Re: [NYCLINTO] Heritage Quest online... > In a message dated 4/12/04 7:06:10 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > joyofbateman@frontiernet.net writes: > > t online from home anytime. > > I am going to join. Hi again Sue J., I did contact my local library. And Dolly the lady in charge of the Genealogy Dept. told me that they had just spent over 900.00 on their subscription to Ancestry.com. So it might be awhile. I told her to check into it. That the pages loaded alot better and that you did not have to click and pan over the page. That you just clicked and were on the page and could see the whole page at a time. She said she would check it out. So hopefully my library will get Heritage Quest before to long. Thanks for the input. =) Cheryl ----- Original Message ----- From: "Sue J" <macduff@infionline.net> To: <NYCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, April 12, 2004 5:34 PM Subject: RE: [NYCLINTO] Heritage Quest online... > > Hi Cheryl, > > Check with a library in a larger town closer to you that may be part of > the "loan" system. Hi Cheryl, Check with a library in a larger town closer to you that may be part of the "loan" system. I am 90 miles from Tampa but our library up here had that offer. Well, we could not get to Tampa to register our library cards with them so I e-mailed our small public library in this rural county and asked if they could get Heritage Quest since it was not a website that the average person can subscribe to. Within 6 months of writing that e-mail, our little library now has HQ and can be searched from home. You don't know until you try. :-) Sue in Florida macduff@infionline.net -----Original Message----- From: Cheryl [mailto:joyofbateman@frontiernet.net] Sent: Monday, April 12, 2004 8:05 PM To: NYCLINTO-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NYCLINTO] Heritage Quest online... Hi Sue, I did call my library. And they said that you have to come in to use the Ancestry.com. That they don't let you use it from home. So I thought that 20.00 per year sure beats the price of others to be able to use it from home. Hell Sande, You may find information about Dominion Services at Library and Archives Canada. Their web site is: http://www.collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/0201_e.html I typed Dominion Services in the Search box and got 299 hits. I know they have an email help service somewhere on the site too. Good luck. Fred Sedgwick Sande & Mike wrote: >Andrew Duley born 1820 - 1823 Quebec, Canada. He died November 8, 1906 in Altona, NY. Thanks, she has been a brick wall for me. The only thing that I have found is her father MIGHT have been Mitchel Bosca. My brother-in-law with the current spelling "Duso" has grandparents : Fred Duso/Dusseau and Virginia Foote/Roote. I have not further information other than that they had a son Fred Duso born in 1896 in Altona, Clinton, NY and another son William Dusseau. Would any of these names fit in with any of yours. Thanks so much for looking. Ida iransom@snet.net
