Hi Jean, "JAMES VANDEBOGERT Enlisted Dec. 19, 1812 for 5 years in company of late Capt. J. Brooks, commanded by Lt. John I. Cromwell, Corps of U.S. Artillery; on Muster Roll from April 30 to June 30, 1814. Ref: R. & L. 1812, AGO Page 18." Sorry, I do not know if he fought at the Battle of Plattsburg, NY. Charles BAKER of Georgia, Franklin Co., VT, and Elisha BAKER of Sheldon, Franklin Co., VT were at Plattsburg, September, 1814. Please let me know if you would like me to transcribe either of their military data. I have data on these soldiers but not at the Battle of Plattsburg: Abram HOBBES Benjamin HOBBS James HOBBS, widow, Charlotte, and they both have pensions if you need directions on how to order one from DAR. Jan
Judy, I noticed that you were researching the Brayton line. Would the line have lived in Franklin County as well? I have the line of Joseph Brayton in my ancestry. He was married to Clarissa Hubbard. I have quite a bit more if your interested and feel that it is your line. Hi All, Family lore has it that our ancestor, Joseph Bergeron, was a cavalryman and fought for the British in the War of 1812 at the battle of Plattsburgh. He was from St. Gregoire, Nicolet County, Quebec. After the war, he moved his family to the AuSable area in New York. Would anyone have information on the British and the battle of Plattsburgh? Thank you. Laurie Bashaw

Cheryl, you could also be referring to Point Au Roche which is located between Plattsburgh and Chazy on Lake Champlain. It's not a village or city per se but rather a geographical location. According to the National Archives microfilm list, Thomas Guinup (Guynup) was a member of Tom Miller's 36th Regiment. I have a copy of the original handwritten muster rolls of the regiment, and can't find his name--though I'm sure there must be some missing pages. Is he listed mentioned in your reference? Thanks, Linda Guynup Dewey
