    2. There are a number of Chases list in the index to the entire volume, none, however in the Schuyler Falls or Morrisonville pages. No Ezra Bowers Chase. The George Chase list in the index refers to George B, who in 1879 was on the board of the Champlain Transporation Company, but is listed as living in Boston. If you have siblings and some periods, I will look up some of the other names. Noticed that a patch of Chases seemed to be in Saranac. Linda

    2. Those of us who live in the West where there aren't overlapping towns and villages sometimes have a hard time separating places like Plattsbrugh, Schuyler Falls and Morrisonville--where places were carved out of other places. Hurd's HISTORY OF CLINTON AND FRANKLIN COUNTIES, published 1880 says "the Methodist Episcopal Church, Morrisonville, was established in 1835 in what is now called the town of Schuyler Falls, then West Plattsburgh, on Beckwith Street about midway between the villages of Schuyler Falls and Morrisonville. It was named the Second Methoidst Episcopal Church of the town of Plattsburgh." In 1846 yet another M-E church was established in Schuyler Falls By 1853, the population of the area had grown so much that the old (1835) church was divided. Those living south united with the Schuyler Falls group and those north established a church at Morrisonville at the north end. Hurd has lists of members and clergy of l the above--if someone is looking for specific names--and doesn't have a copy of Hurd, let me know. I'll keep the book on my desk for a few days. In 1874, R. H., Emery of Morrisonville donated land for a Catholic Church, where St. Alexander's was established. (No list of members.) Heritage Books, Inc has it. http://www.heritagebooks.com or 1-800-398-7709 There are 2 volumes and it talks about what their homes looked like, conditions were, etc. It's great! 3. Susan, I have to agree. I am frustrated with trying to gain access to my family records. I either have to pay lots of money or wait 50yrs even when everyone is dead. I am not sure what the problem is that NY takes sooo long to get the records???? I would like to buy a copy of the McCellen book. I don't think this is available to buy? 1. Re: [NYCLINTO-L] NNYC-AGS Publications
    2. Hi, I have received 5 of their marriage, birth and death books and they have been an invaluable help in my research. One of the names I am researching was Belec in Quebec but changed to Belecque, Beneket, Baylake in Clinton County and other variations - with these books in hand I was able to trace them - it was tedious and time consuming but I read each and every entry noting the names of godparents or witnesses as well as the name of the couple getting married or the child being christened. This allowed me to discover the different spellings, sometimes only recognized the first name but was able to associate the different surnames. So now I know that the original ggrandpa I was looking for in Clinton County also had two sisters who married and had children there (because they were listed as godparents to other couples children) and so on. I now have quite a thread to follow and am re-assembling all collateral family members. Well worth the expense. Regards, Andree
