I want to thank everyone for all the help on where to stay and where to research in the Plattsburgh area. I made an appointment today with the Clinton County Historian to do research there! I am unsubscribing from the list until I return and will inform the list if I find anything on my ALLARD and WHEELER families while there. I'm excited about the trip!! Thanks for all the encouragement; I needed it!! Leatrice in Ma.
Hi Linda, Sorry I find no Guynup or Hare/Hair in the books I have. Regards, Andree
Hi Ann, First I found the baptisms below, then I searched for a marriage. Found none under Bonin, BUT under Carriere I found Julie Carriere married Antoine CARRIERE on 9-13-1851 in Immaculate Conception church in Keeseville. I strongly suspect that this was an erroneous entry either on the part of the priest or the person who transcribed the records, have a strong feeling that Antoine Carriere here should be Antoine Bonin, the only way to be sure would be to get the original microfilm church record at LDS and verify it. These sound like they might be yours from St. John the Baptist church in Keeseville, typed it as it is spelled in the book: Eugene Bonin baptized 3-27-1864 at the age of 3 years old, son of Antoine Bonin and Julie Carriere, godparents Pierre Robillard and Marie Lafreniere Josephine Bonain baptized on 3-27-1864 at age of 1 year and 4 months, daughter of Antoine Banain and Julie Carriere, godparents Joseph Carriere and Euphemie Selerier Benjamin Joseph Bonin born in July, baptized on 8-17-1873 son of Antoine Bonin and Julie Carriere, godparents Benjamin Carriere and Jeanne Allet Eugene Bonin baptized on 3-27-1864 at 3 years of age son of Antoine Bonin and Julie Carriere, godparents Pierre Robillard and Marie Lafreniere. Julie Bonin baptized on 8-13-1854 at six months of age daughter of Antoine Bonin and Julie Carriere, godparents Joseph Grandbois and Ursule Frechet Marie Olive Bonin, baptized on 8-17-1873, no date of birth, daughter of Antoine Bonin and Julie Carriere, godparents Alfred Carriere and Olive Galarneau This one I'm not sure as the mother's surname is different but it could be a "dit" name for her. If you notice three Bonin children were baptized on the same day. Louis Bonain baptized on 3-27-1864 at age 5 son of Antoine Bonain and Julie Lafreniere, godparents Martin Gadouri and Cleophee Laplume As for the spelling of Bonin, all the variations apply because when you pronounce them out loud in French they all sound exactly the same. These are phonetic spellings. Hope these are your guy, now I'm curious please let me know if they are. Regards, Andree
Hi Jacki, A Big THANK YOU for the information you have sent. I am curious that there was nothing from St. Edmund's Church around 1900?! Andree: About all I know is that Antonio or Anthony had a son Eugene born about 1861. These are my late husbands grandfather and great grandfather and I know very little. Ann B.
In the Clinton County Marriages by Benoit Pontbriand I did not find the Guynup name under either spelling or did I find the Hare/Hair name mentioned in the book. I checked the Marriages of Clinton County 1830-1880 by Benoit Pontbriand I did not find a George but did find following: Deslauriers, Virginie (no parents) married at St. Pierre in Plattsburg on 21-3-1880 to Andrews, William (no parents) and no witnesses. That was the only one that came close. However, the book that everyone is mentioning doesn't appear to include the 1890's and this is the timeframe I am searching for the marriage of Sara CLINGMAN to Edward A. CONNELL. However, I am also looking for the marriage of George DESLAURIERS (Delorier) in the 1870's and for Mary Jane Virginia DESLAURIERS (Delorier) during the 1870's. Their respective spouses' names are unknown. Thanks Jackie
Could you please check for Hare (Hair)? Thanks so much, Linda Guynup Dewey San Francisco
Could you please check for Guynup (also spelled Guinup)? Thanks so much!! Linda Guynup Dewey San Francisco

Hi Ann, There are a dozen marriages and a dozen baptisms for the name Bonin, give me a few more details please. Andree
Andree: I believe that at one time they used the spelling Bonin. Ann B.
Andree, After checking the surname variation website you mentioned, I wonder if you would be so kind as to check for the following: James Johnston / Johnson marr Elizabeth --?-- (surname unknown) the spelling variation seems to be: Lusignan Apparently the French and Latin forms of James are: Jacques / Jacobi Their first child was born in 1844 in Clinton Co., so I'm assuming they were married early in 1844 or late 1843. James was born in Ireland, Elizabeth born in England. Thank you so much, Mary
Hi Shari, The books I have to research in show the names as they originally were, not the phonetic or translated form. Have a look at this website, scroll almost to the bottom of the page to find the possible variations on the Lashway/Lashua names. http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~afgs/L16dit-etc.html Regards, Andree
Hi all, As long as I'm monopolizing the list this week, it's been raining in Florida for the last 5 days so I'm "playing" on the computer, please check out this website on Clinton County and submit your lines from Clinton, who knows you might make connections. http://www.angelfire.com/ny5/clinton/ Still raining and thundering as I type, Andree
Hi Ann, There are about 30 Fournier marriages, any first names? Regards, Andree
