Please dear listers...For a few months, I have been scouring the internet, every nook and cranny, every chatroom, message board, world-connect, distant-cousins, IGI, and so on...been there done that...hundreds of sites!!! I even broke down and bought a one month ancestry.com fee...nothing!!! waste of money!!! I'm about ready to spit! I believe, that only someone, not posting their info on the net, may have the key to my treasure box. By now, most of you are familiar with the Guilford NY/VT 1772 Census at http://www.genealogy-quest.com/collections/nyguilford.html Of particular interest to me is only one entry: "Nathl Smith, a wife and 5 children." They are my 7xgp's. Nathaniel Smith md Lucy Lamb-Lynde, had one known daughter, Mary "Polly" Smith, and four unknowns, according to the census mentioned. Other Smiths on the list are of an unknown relationship. One known connection is Daniel Lynde, his wife Sarah Bemis/Bemos/Bemis, and 4 children. Daniel was Lucy's brother. Particulars re: the Lyndes may be found at [...] where brother, Daniel Lynde, h/o Rebecca "Lizzy" Perkins is missing. http://wc.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=:2258777&id=I502654021 To further complicate things, young Polly Smith: [Brimfield VR to 1850: Polly ( Smi[torn] )[Smith, T.C.] and Solomon Thompson, July 13, 1786.* [Smith, C.R.] ] is found back near her birth place Leicester, Worcester, MA. Nathaniel, raised in Leicester, MA, removes, with family to Guilford, at some point prior to 1772. There are quite a few Smiths and Lyndes in the area much before that time and after...but no Nathaniel, or any evidence of his family. Thus the months of searching. Nathaniel is at the nexus of my remaining research...he must be found! I further believe that he moved on from Guilford following/during the "troubles" and may have gone back to MA. There are lots of Nathaniel Smiths in NYS, but with no corroborating evidence...I cannot tell if any one of them is the one that I am searching for. P/S I post none of my research on the internet, when asked not to... I do share info with those who share with me...so do not fear that I am about to steal anything and take the credit for it.
