Does anyone know anything about Reuben Smith who received land based on NY legislation dated May 1786 and March 1788. He received Lot 58 Clinton from the "people of NY." I am trying to determine if Blodgett Smith's( who died in Massachusetts around 1795) son Reuben was named after him and if he is related and if so how. I have no idea where he came from or anything about him other than he received land from NY.
