It sure is - in case you haven't been part of the list for long, we consider Tim's family part of the Chenango list's family. -----Original Message----- From: nychenan-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nychenan-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Elizabeth Allison Sent: Friday, July 24, 2009 9:22 PM To: nychenan@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [NYCHENAN] Reunion Is this appropriate for a Chenango Co website? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Timothy Stowell" <tstowell@chattanooga.net> To: <nychenan@rootsweb.com>; <nycortla@rootsweb.com>; <nymadiso@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, July 24, 2009 12:24 AM Subject: [NYCHENAN] Reunion > Reunion is defined as a gathering of people who have been apart or > the act of coming together again. > > We most often think of this with regards to family. 3. Tim is the "List Dad". Most of us have met him and have done research with him. He has done hundreds and hundreds, maybe thousands of hours on the Chenango County website and has entered all the pictures and stories. He sends those of us that volunteer books to transcribe so he can put them up on the site. I guess we don't care what he writes about. He has earned whatever he wants to write about. Tim's ancestors came from Chenango County and I have tromped through snow looking for and digging out grave stones with him in the middle of the winter in a snowstorm. I hope this helps clear this up for you. If it weren't for Tim nothing much would be on the web site. We have been "with" him all through the adoption process he and his wife went through. He is one proud Daddy and we love to hear his infrequent stories about his little girl. Elizabeth does ask a valid question. The list was set up to discuss family members who lived, died, had some event happen in their lives in Chenango county. They are our heritage. The portion of the note regarding reunions is appropriate for the list because my family and others have had reunions that included family members from or the reunion itself occurred in Chenango county. The remainder of the message, is valid by virtue of what adoption is. Now that we've adopted our daughter she is just as legal an heir to her Chenango ancestors as I am. My Dad was born in Lebanon TWP, Madison county but lived for many years in Chenango. My daughter calls him grandfather. This note was also sent to the Madison and Cortland lists because we have ancestors who had verifiable legal events in both those counties so those ancestors are now hers as well even if it is by proxy. Thanks to all those who sent their thoughts my way. The 10 hour drive was worth it all to see these two girls reunited yesterday. A special place in my heart for central New York.
