What is the time frame for the Vermont Sufferers who went to New York? I have a John A. Parker b abt 1775 in supposedly Rhode Island, married a woman named Mary also b abt 1775 in RI. They are first found in Chenango Co NY in 1800 census with a one year old son who was born in NY. --------------------------------- Looking for last minute shopping deals? Find them fast with Yahoo! Until I came over here to the Chenango Mailing list, I didn't know of the "Vermont Sufferers to New York". Was this because of the boundry problems? I do know there was a large migration from Vt. to NY State. The Vermont Families 1791 2 vol. speak of the Vermont out-migration, which likely refers to the Vermonters who came to NY. In the Introduction in Vol. 1, the person editing this source, Scott A. Bartley, said that the data is the study of the migratory families and that the family information is given by submitters. Vt. was added as a State in 1791 and was officially enumerated in 1791. My understanding was that there was no migration, only the state boundaries changed, Is that incorrect ? The only Solomon Armstrong in the Vt. Books was b. 1821-too late for your interests. Nothing for Henry or John Ferguson. By chance did your Solomon Armstrong ever live in Montgomery Co, NY? The name sounds familiar to me. In Bowman's, Vital Records Central NY from Newspapers, p 84, there is a John Ferguson who died Sept. 4, 1832, age 54 in NYC. He was a Naval Officer and a former Mayor of NYC, also a Judge of the Marine Court Oddly, this entry gives no information as to what Newspaper it was found in.
