I think it is the Baptismal because the Adella in Gilbertsville, Butternuts Township, Otsego, NY in 1910 her mother is listed as Charmline but also as a possible Bar??Dino at Ancestry.com. The mother on the baptismal is Bernandino Gonzales father Enrique Wheeler. They probably decided to all use the father's surname to avoid confusion and fit in. She died in 1917 during childbirth, and if she had left when quite young, she would not have been there in 1900. And there she was. Now I can't say for sure if she is the person in that baptismal record. I have not dismissed that. But I feel confident this is the girl I seek - in Otsego. Thanks for all your interest and assistances. In Mexico when a woman marries, she keeps her maiden name--not her husband's name. Worked with a nurse from Mexico and in the States she uses her husband's last name, but when her brother calls her from Mexico--he called her by a different last name--her maiden name. It was confusing at first until Laura explained it to me. Just found on http://www.fultonhistory.com , but year1950 "Adella Tefft" , a kindergarten student, complete with picture, and dark hair. Wonder if she would be a grandchild named after Adella? In that site I always put the names in quotes. Now I didn't think of that. That is quite interesting. I did notice on the census the date of emigration to the US as 1904. Does the O at the end of a Mexican name denote female? That might help seal it. An A at the end of a name would indicate a female if you recheck babtismal it is Bernandina I typed it wrong. I wonder where the mother went. I can't seem to find her in 1920. Also did you notice under occupation it said own income. I woder why she picked Butternuts in Otsego County? Linda Slawson ----- Original Message ----- From: "Vincent E.
