The place of death for Margaret Franklin may be solved by reference to the 1920 & 1930 census records. In 1920 she lived with her single son, Ernest, age 34, in the Town of Pharsalia, Chenango County, NY. In 1930 Ernest lived with his wife of six years, their son, age 6, and two step children in the Town of Plymouth, Chenango County, NY. At the time of her death in 1926 Ernest was married & lived either in Pharsalia or Plymouth. The death certificate would be located at the clerk's office in one of these towns. ????? To me neither of these towns are located near the Hamlet (Village) South New??Berlin, which is in the Town of New Berlin. [Yes,?the clerk's office there does have?certificates dating from 1899 in a shoe box]. ????? John in Oklahoma? ?
John, The place of death is not what is in question. What is in question is the place of birth. The person doing the research has found the death registry which was found in Norwich, the county seat. On the death registry it states place of death as South New Berlin. The hope is to find more information from the death certificate or death record which might or might not give place of birth AND give parents information. In my research I have found that you can get more information from death records than certificates or registry's. The shoebox in NB has burial permits. Wherever she died is where her death certificate/record will be.. I had trouble finding my grandfather's death record from 1919. I finally found out that he was taken to the TB Sanitorium in Sherburne on the day he died so that is where his death was recorded and the clerk there made out a death cert. for me. ----- Original Message ----- From: <jwalmiller@aol.com> To: <gc-gateway@rootsweb.com>; <nychenan@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, November 09, 2008 7:17 PM Subject: Re: [NYCHENAN] Margaret Avery > > The place of death for Margaret Franklin may be solved by reference to the > 1920 & 1930 census records.
