I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the KALES Family, the first photograph is one of Mary KALES taken at the E. Murphy & Bro. Studio in Binghamton, New York. This photograph was likely taken in the 1860's or 1870's with Mary appearing to be in her 30's at the time it was taken. The second photograph is identified as Hannah SHELDON KALES and was taken at the Gentile Studio in Chicago, Illinois. This second photograph was probably taken in the 1880's with Hannah appearing to be in her 70's at the time. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding this family: Hannah Harris SHELDON b. 20 Sept 1810 in Cairo, NY, married William S. KALES (b. 4 Jul 1806 in Monaghan, Ireland) about 1831 in Broome County, NY. Together the couple had 8 children including, Francis Henry; S. J.; Mary A.; Rachel M.; Elizabeth Eunice; Eliza A.; Martin; and F. S. KALES, all born between 1835 and 1848 in Broome and Chenango Counties, NY. Hannah Harris SHELDON KALES died 25 May 1884 in Coventry, NY. I am hoping to locate someone from this family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family.
