I remembered that two years ago we had some very inspiring posts to honor the women who went through great hardships to raise our Chenango County ancestors so that we may be here today. I'd like to repost my homage to my foremothers.... I would love to honor my Chenango and Broome family lines of female ancestors, that I know of: my father's paternal foremothers: 1) Grace Harriet MOWRY (1883 - 1977) married Elwin SMITH. They lived in Barker, Broome Co., and Greene, Chenango Co. 3) Sarah Ann BURNS (1846 - 1913) married Charles E. SMITH. They lived in Greene, Chenango Co. 4) Almira HOLDREDGE (1816 - 1888) married Aaron SMITH. They lived in Greene. 5) Nancy HOVEY (1784 - 1835) married Zalmon SMITH. They lived in Oxford and Greene, Chenango Co. And my father's maternal foremothers: 1) Frances TOTTEN (1883 - 1955) married Charles A. PIXLEY. They lived in Triangle, Broome Co. 2) Edith M. ABBOTT (1855 - 1934) married James B. PIXLEY. She live in Barker and Triangle, Broome County. 3) Fannie KELLEY (1811 - 1885) married Asa B. PIXLEY and went to Afton from VT. 4) Abigail PLACE (1768 - 1833) married Asa PIXLEY and went to VT from RI. 5) Ruth BRIGGS (1723 - 1800) married William PIXLEY, and went to Hartford, Windsor,VT from Dighton, MA. 6) Hannah PAUL(1692 - 1761) married Robert Alexander Pixley. They lived in Dighton, Bristol Co., MA. 7) Grace MITCHELL (1675 - 1730) married William PIXLEY. They lived in Stratford, Fairfield, CT. 8) Sarah LAWRENCE (1643 - 1713) married William PIXLEY who was born in England. She was born in Hingham MA in 1643 and lived when married in Hadley, Northampton, and Westfield MA. And of course all of their mothers and foremothers also, known and unknown!
