Do you know if there are in marriage and death records for that period? I have been unable to locate a marriage record for James Williams and Roby Briggs circa 1825-30. Roby was born about 1802; I am not sure of James Williams date of birth or death. If you have any insight about the best route to take to locate some of these vital records, I would be very appreciative. Chances are you won't find any records per say. You might be lucky to find an old history of the county, an old newspaper or a church record. For that time period, chances are slim. It depends on the state when they were required to keep records. Most were not that early. The state may have had early census records (not federal). You could look into that. Also you might try the 1850 federal census. It won't give you a marriage date but it might give you a good guess if it lists a wife and children. It is tough to do early genealogy. All you can do is keep plugging away and sometimes you get lucky and find that little piece of info that you have been looking for for years.
