Anna Preston Fairchild: I am a desc. of Joseph Fairchild and I've looked thru all my notes etc and can't find her there. Is there a possibility that she married one of the Fairchilds from Dutchess County before she moved to Chenango ??? A lot of checking showed me that her parents are interred East Mountain Cem near Dover, Dutchess Co. so she did not move to Chenango with them. I did find she had a sister Abigail Preston who married Thomas Wolcott, but they remained in Dutchess Co also. Has anyone checked the 1855 State Census to see what COUNTY daughter Rebecca Fairchild Blackman was born in ? evelyn
Evelyn, Many thanks for your response. Yes, there is?a definite possibility Anna married a Fairchild from Dutchess County before she moved to Chenango.? Her parents, Martin and Rebecca (Judd) Preston, are interred on East (Preston) Mountain, near Dover. While her sister Abigail remained in Dutchess Co., another sister, Elizabeth, married Gideon Kennedy and removed, via Rensselaer Co., to Onondaga County by 1820 (appears in that census as Gideon Canada). I have not checked the 1855 census to see what county Rebecca Fairchild Blackman was born in.
