This note is three fold in purpose - One to let you know I'm still around, albeit very tired, what with work, child and parents to care for. I'm feeling somewhat of a break in the clouds so hopefully can begin once again to put data on-line. The query system is still broken as Rootsweb seems to have a higher number of days with problems than in the last year or so. I'm looking at alternatives. Two to pass along a notice of some spectacular glass negatives on eBay for the New Berlin area: I don't know if you have an eBay account, but if you do - Item number: 300287045164 - Hotel (which I think stood on the northwest corner of the main intersection in New Berlin) Item number: 300287095438 - Silk Mill (which I think was/is on Green Street) Item number: 300287097080 - feed store (I'm guessing down by the railroad, near the river) Lastly, to ask if any one has experience scanning glass negatives? Trust you all have a wonderful year. Tim
Sorry to reply to this so late after the request but the Tioga Co., PA, Historical Society has had over 1,000 glass negatives printed at $1.00 each, saved in .tif files which retains the most resolution, etc. They can then be put on a CD and the extension changed to .jpg for other uses. Since I returned home the end of April our historical society has also had over 1,000 of them done. If interested, please contyact me and I will give you further information. Are there any sort of lists of the names that could be published on the web so we could see if there are any names that pertain to our research? Thanks, JB Wilson, Beaverton, OR :-) ----------------------------------------- On Jun 28, 2009, at 4:00 PM, Kay Brownell Reed wrote: Sorry to reply to this so late after the request but the Tioga Co., PA, Historical Society has had over 1,000 glass negatives printed at $1.00 each, saved in .tif files which retains the most resolution, etc. They can then be put on a CD and the extension changed to .jpg for other uses.
