    1. [NYCHENAN] Reuben SMITH, Otsego. NY early 1800s
    2. Kathy (GenealogyOuzzles@aol.com) and Suzanne (Sschardebeck@aol.com) recently wrote about three Reuben SMITHs: one the son of Aaron Smith, who lived in Middlefield, Otsego, NY in the early 1800s, had several children, including William and George Fennimore, and died Jan. 23, 1846, one who received land on the authority of acts of the Legislature May 1786 and March 20 1788, and one who is listed as owning land in Montgomery County, Clinton Township, approved by the commisions of the land office January 12 1789 and recorded Nov. 12 1885. Other Smiths receiving land from New York were Melaneton, Seth, Israel and William. Is it possible any if them was related to Esther SMITH who became the third wife of Joseph HARRIS 17 March 1799 and had two children: Smith, born 22 Sep 1800 and James, b. 12 Mar 1802, d. 12 Mar 1820? Those are the only facts I know about Esther and her sons, included in family records compiled by one of Joseph's grandsons. What little we know of Joseph includes his first marriage in Beekman, Dutchess County, in 1784, his second marriage in 1795 and his death 7 Aug 1802. The last recorded residence I have for him is Plattsburgh, Clinton County, NY, according to the 1800 census. Of anyone has any clues about Esther SMITH - or any other facet of Joseph HARRIS' life, I would appreciate hearing from them. Joseph and his first wife, Mary NORTHRUP, are my ancestors.
