    1. [NYCHENAN] county fairs

    3. Over the years county fairs have expanded and contracted as citizens interest in such has waxed and waned. I read an article to my wife the other day wherein a local farm agent stated that he'd seen interest decline in showing farm animals by young people, some due to the fact that farms had disappearing in the county and probably because other things interest young folk. The article focused on showing prize pigs and how the young folk got their pig ready to show. Of course there was washing and trimming hair but the two items that caught my attention were the two young people one who used baby oil to make her pig's coat gleam and I suppose soft and the other who believed in a good old mayonnaise rub! Which brings me to my question regarding each county. I know that in times past, and I suppose it still happens is the very old Brookfield fair. What I don't know and am asking does it still run? If so, when and are farm animals still included? For Chenango and Cortland - when and where for your county fairs and the same question regarding livestock. Tim
