While these lists are primarily focused on the history and genealogy of the people who lived in these counties in times past, so too are the posters and non-posters in some semblance members of a family as we ask things of all, respond with answers and more questions - the interaction of a community. When a member loses a loved one and posts such information here or when a member themselves pass away, we share the grief. Some times we also share the joy of a brick wall broken down. As of this evening the lists have the following numbers of subscribers: Chenango - 222 Cortland - 175 Madison - 225 Some folks, such as myself, are on all three lists. While I do not have handy just how many unique addresses are represented on these lists, I believe that more than just the members here are touched in some way by these lists. Since my last update and also some time prior to that I've decided to go back to school for the first time in 15 years. Having been out of practice so long, it's been difficult to take this one class and work full-time. It is just one class meeting 4 times a week for about an hour - but then there is that old bugaboo homework. I'm two times plus the age of the teacher, four times plus the age of the other students. Still my interest of genealogy / history has not waned and I've been pondering another avenue, while running from one spinning plate to the next. To that end, I'd like to start 'Brick Wall' pages for each county. The queries need to be very simple - in other words not one's whole family tree - but one simple fact you are seeking, have been seeking for a long time. One of mine has been going now for 30 years. For example for me it would read something like this: Madison County - DeRuyter my name - my email address Seeking parents of Whitman WILCOX - b. bef. June 1803 NY d. ca. 1880, DeRuyter. m. bef. 1840 - Phebe THOMPSON. ----------------------------------------------------------- If you send me one that is verbose, I'll ask you to trim it.
