    3. Hi Tim, I have a couple of brick walls I'll send to you directly. The brick-wall section will be a good addition to the websites. Congrats on going back to school! I did that later in life also, finished my BA and went 1/2 way through my masters. I totally enjoyed it, more than if I'd done it right out of high school. But the reason I'm writing is your comment about "stuff doesn't sink in quite well with me the first, second or third time of repeating it - but once it is in - it stays." As I understand it, that's par for the course. One of my professors told me that one time through the material, most students retain about 60%; that's why it needs to be repeated, either verbally, by reading, or studying for tests. So, sounds like you're par for the course :-) Pat (Rowe) Stone, Rochester, NY ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Stowell" <tstowell@chattanooga.net> To: <nychenan@rootsweb.com>; <nycortla@rootsweb.com>; <nymadiso@rootsweb.com> Sent: Wednesday, September 19, 2007 11:35 PM Subject: [NYCHENAN] personal bricks > Many folks have responded and for that I'm thankful. > > If you do choose to respond on the list, please try to come up with some > subject > line other than brickwall - put some personality behind the subject line > like > a surname. > > For those who've written me personally as requested - I do have your > submissions. > > Unfortunately, at least for me, I have to study in the minutes that remain > of > this evening for a test tomorrow which covers my mind with anxiousness, > while > I can reasonably say I know 1/2 the material without hitch - it is those > nagging > items that bother me. > > Some of this comes from understanding what the teacher is saying for stuff > doesn't > sink in quite well with me the first, second or third time of repeating it > - but > once it is in - it stays. > > I guess my mind just doesn't perk well. > > This weekend looks relatively free so I'll work on this after tomorrow's > test at > 800 AM! > > Tim > > ------------------------------- > To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to > NYCHENAN-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the > quotes in the subject and the body of the message
