    3. Since my last update which was on 3/4 - For this update - ====================== Cortland County - Balance of biographies from Smith's 1885 History of Cortland county: http://www.rootsweb.com/~nycortla/smithhis.htm An interesting bunch of bios. One thing I learned from these is that Cincinnatus used to be in Onondaga county. A few more biographies from the 1898 biography book: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/cortland/books/1898bios.htm Brown, Bentley, Underwood plus 8 portraits of persons whose biographies were previously posted. ====================== Chenango County - At long last the complete 1951 County, City, Town Officers of Chenango County contributed by Jack Eaton was placed on-line. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nychenan/1951dir.htm ====================== Madison County - Chapter 42 of the 1880 History of Madison County: http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/madison1/books/1880-42.htm history of schools in Madison and Chenango counties on a general nature. Very interesting reading. One fact I learned was that pupils were subjected to punishments worse than what was allowed in the prisons of that time. =============================================================== In other news I'm continuing the addition of cemeteries in Barker Township in Broome County http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/broome/barker.htm as well as the 1872 business directory which will have histories of the towns and a directory of people in each town. http://www.usgennet.org/usa/ny/county/broome/books/1872dir.htm ----------------------------------------------- In my note of 4/20 to the lists I stated: "On another front I'm in the process or have already picked items for Chenango and Madison counties which I'll be adding to the assorted web sites later in the year." So here's what I've picked up to add as I can: Chenango - Board of Supervisors - Journal of Proceedings - 1925 Cortland - County Directory - 1902 Madison - Supervisors Journal - 1925 and 1932 The Chenango book has 415 pages, Madison has 210 and 276 respectively and the Cortland book has 523 pages. Frankly some of this is boring as watching dust bunnies grow but here and there some neat stuff appears. There's the dog tax, bovine TB eradication, coroner's inquests are a few of the subjects. ----------------------------------------------- At some point I'll be seeking list sitters for these lists as at some point this fall I'll be away for about a month. I don't have all my ducks in a row for my away time, so at this point I have no exact schedule when this will occur. In the meantime, I'm in the midst of coding another book for Cortland County. Tim
