Hello All! I am searching for information on my great-grandfather, Jesse Crosby, probably born in 1884 in German, Chenango County, NY. He was aparently brought up by John and Helen Green Vosburg. In Helen's will she refers to him as "Jesse crosby, an adopted son or a boy living with me." John Vosburg died in 1892 and Helen died in 1896. They lived in German, Chenango County and are buried in Lower Cincinnatus Cemetery. Jesse had told his children that his father died when he was 8 and his mother died when he was 12 but they did not know that the Vosburg's were not his real parents. I would appreciate any informtion or suggestions on how to find out more about Jesse. Kindest regards, Donna **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. If you had ancestors that settled early in central, or one of the western counties of New York, then you might find some information on them in a collection of manuscript church record books at Cornell University. I show Daniel Brooks and wife Olive Smith selling land to Abigail Smith 1811. The 1800 census shows him in the Smithville/Greene area. I don't find him on the list of original settlers. Does anyone know where Daniel Brooks came from before coming to Smithville. **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. The Chenango Genwweb site has a chronological list of burials that contains the burial of Harriet Ward on 11 Oct 1892. I assume that this is the only record but perhaps there is more. Also, if I could find her grave, it might be adjacent to another relative - indicating one of those Harriets in New Berlin. Perhaps someone out there knows where I could find more information about the North Norwich Cemetery? The Chenango County Historical Society?
