    2. Tim, Check out this site. http://www.rootsweb.com/~nysource/ggg/goer01.htm Shirley and her Husband were shot to death in their winter home in Florida, by a loony, for something like poison cookies. She was very well known and very well liked. I have several of her books and wish I had more. Dave **************************************Check out AOL's list of 2007's hottest products. 2. Shirley Boyce Goerlich (abt. 1937-2005) was a graduate of Sidney High School, possibly Cobleskill College, teacher, genealogist, Town of Unadilla Historian, Organizing Regent of Gen. John Paterson Chapter, NSDAR at Whitney Point, NY. She authored a number of books. Wife of Robert Goerlich, mother of Bobby and Daniel. Shirley and her husband were shot and killed April 2005 by a deranged woman who she had befriended at their winter home in Florida. I knew Shirley personally when she lived in Greene, NY and was Regent of our DAR chapter. The family moved back to the Sidney area when her father became ill. 3. This book along with other regional books I discovered on an Ebay site, passing along for general interest. These include Otsego, Delaware and Chenango counties. http://myworld.ebay.com/jwinfieldg/ Most interesting about this was the author, Shirley Goerlich, from what I gathered was in her time a dedicated historian, publishing several books for the region. If someone can expand a bio of her, please do so. Thanks, Tim

    3. Hi Evelyn: Oh, I daresay that is not funny, but sounds to me like the person that put it on thought it was hilarious, and a joke. This could happen on any site--rootsweb, ancestry, you name it--we are all at the mercy of someone putting information on line. Hopefully I have not done anything to make someone mad at me. Dorothy

    3. Findagrave: I'd like to let people know that you can not always trust what you see there. Several months ago I found a listing for a young man in my family who was Alive and Well. I tried to contact the person who put the information there but the email came back saying it was an invalid address. I did not consider it funny, nor did the young man who it was about. evelyn

    3. Not completely true. I cannot "replace someone else's information with correct information", but I can contact the originator of the information and he/she can correct it. I've done it with my own stuff when I finally came up with a complete date, and I have contacted an originator and it is up to them to fix it. As for pictures--I don't know--I am not computer literate enough to know how to send one, but I'll learn one of these days. Dorothy

    3. There is a dark secret about findagrave.com I found out from a group who tried to replace lousy photos with better photos. I still have that message informing me of the problem. Findagrave.com will not allow it. Not at all. Not even to update the information already there. Like replacing the incomplete dates with complete dates. newyorkgravestones.org allow it - just contact the administrator direct and the photo will be replaced, no question asked. Even to add new updated information. Better features are at newyorkgravestones site - quick searches and locating specific information in different ways. Even to find a married daughter whose married name is not known to you. Searches are available in different ways. Findagrave.com is more on data rather than photos. NewYorkgravestones has BOTH, every time. W. David Samuelsen, New York Gravestone Photo Project

    3. Donna, Have you looked for John Vosburg's will? It might give the relationship between Jesse and John. Do you know the religious affiliation of the Vosburg's or Mr Crosby? Chruch records may contain some information. Jesse's DC and obit should have some reference to his being adopted. Guardianship papers at the Surrogate Court clerk's office may also tell his story. Hope this helps. 1. Re: [NYCHENAN] Finding Jesse Crosby
    2. Hi You might want to write to the German Village/Town Clerks to see if his Birth Certificate was filed there. It appears he was B after B Records were filed in NYS. His Marriage Record might also list his Parents and/or his Death Record. I would also search the Guardianship Records for Chenango County for the years following his DOB up to about 1900. It would appear that the Vosburg Family were his legal Guardians. If you knew the church that the family attended you might also find church records that name his parents. Pat R
