Hi List, In researching my Beach family line I have them back to Chenango county New York in the 1830 census in the town of Pharsalia his name was Henry Beach he is listed as 20 and under 30, two sons under 5, his wife was Polly Cook she is listed as 20 and under 30 and 1 daughter 5 and under 10. as the daughter is listed as 5 and under 10, I assume they were married before 1825, and could be listed in the 1825 Ny census, when did NY start taking their own state census ?? ,and is there one for 1825 ??. Facts I know is that Henry Beach was born in Canada about 1800, I have him in the 1830 census of Chenango County Ny, I have him in the 1835 NY state census of Chautauqua county NY, Then I lose him and don't pick the family up until 1850 Crawford County Pa town of Titusville, just his wife Polly COOK BEACH and 2 children listed, I have some of their children obits, that say the one daughter was born in Chenango county Ny in July 1830 she was named Clarinda BEACH married to William H KING, she died in 1906 Forest County Pa. Henrys son Enos A BEACH was born June 1828 Chenango county, and died 1907 Titusville Pa his obit says they moved their in 1840,but are not listed in the census for there, I don't know when or why they moved from Canada to Chenango county had to be between 1801-1828, I don't see them in the 1820 census, I would be interested to know if their is a 1825 census and if anyone has access to it or how I could get access, I live in Forest county Pa and Chenango is just to far to drive, I also suspect that the James K Beach, living in Chenango county to be my Henrys brother, and also noticed a Jonathan BEACH listed in the 1830 census of Chenango county town of Lincklaen, he is the right age to be my Henrys father and is not listed in the 1820 census, Jonathan is listed as 50 and under 60, his wife 50 and under 60, appears 1 son 20 and under 30 (could be James K Beach), 2 daughters 10 and under 15. I know its thin but a place to start, has anyone done any BEACH family research in Chenango county, that may help prove or disprove any of these theory's. Thank You Ryan Beach P.S I did have my DNA tested for 37 markers and have no solid matches as of yet.

I am hoping that some kind soul might do me a favor by looking for the 1905 census that would contain James H. Beebe and his wife Josie, possibly daughter Gladys and her mother Mrs. Detlor. Last known place found I think they lived was Cazanovia. The 1910 census shows he was a widower living with his daughter Gladys and mother-in-law Mrs. Detlor . The 1910 shows his name as James H. Bulls or something like that but it is the same person. Also if there are any city directories for the area that might have some information in them I would appreciate that info as well. Originally he was from Brookfield, NY and his parents were Hiram J. and Ellen A. Hills Beebe of same. He was in Candor NY in 1900 according to the Census for Candor and lived with his parents for a while to help them with the newspaper they published. I am also hoping to find a marriage date for James and Josie. All I know it had to be sometime after 1901 as that is when she came to the US with her mother from Canada. They had a daughter Gladys about 1906. The mother Josie died in 1908 along with her infant son James H. Beebe Jr. and in 1914 James died, in 1915 Gladys died. These people were my great uncle and aunt. Sure wish I could find out more about them. Thanks. Joan Beebe Meddaugh

OK, so apparently I sent out a blank email yesterday. I don't know how that happened-- so sorry. I thought I was doing a good deed by passing this information along. I didn't know I was going to mess it up. I sent a couple emails yesterday and they were all blank. Weird, huh? I found the Chenango county 1890 Civil War census on CD yesterday, and wanted to pass along the information in case anyone here was interested. It looks interesting if you have Civil War ancestors in the area. Here is the link if you wanted to check it out: http://cgi.ebay.com/1890-Civil-War-census-Chenango-county-New-York_W0QQitemZ170219458536QQihZ007QQcategoryZ20927QQcmdZViewItem or you could just go to ebay and do a search for Chenango county New York 1890 census. I hope this helps someone! Bob M.

Hi Roberta, Nice to hear from you. Yes, all is well :-) I just looked at Caroline's death date on my file and it is the same as what you have. Then I noticed that the death date for Sylvester Ingraham is 04 Jun 1904, so I must have looked at his date instead of her date! So my error. My data source was also Chris as well as Charlotte Stafford, Town Historian. I'm very glad you caught this. I'll send a correction to the list in case anyone else copied it. Happy Mother's Day to all. Grandmothers, great grandmothers and gg grandmothers and other female ancestors are sometimes very difficult to research. I have been lucky to find many of those mothers and wives from whom I descend. Some of my earliest female ancestors discovered so far are: Elisabet Aertsen Drinckvelt; b abt 1622 in the Netherlands married three times before coming to to America in 1655 with her husband Willem Brouwer & 3 children, married a third time & died in Albany abt 1672. I descend from her daughter Elisabeth Brouwer De Graaf. Priscilla Mullins; b abt 1602 in England married John Alden in 1621 after landing in Massachusetts with the Mayflower Pilgrims. I descend from her daughter Ruth Alden Bass. Sarah Thayer; b abt 1644 in Braintree, MA married Samuel Hayden in 1676. I descend from her daughter Sarah Hayden Wild. Elizabeth Torrey; b abt 1765 in Leicester, MA married Jedediah Johnson in 1792 in Vermont and died in Madison Co., NY in 1854. Margretha R. Stansell; b abt 1761 in Minden, NY married George Busch in 1777 in Tryon Co., NY and died in Montgomery Co., NY in 1829. Loretta Warner b abt 1760 in Connecticut married John Dibble in 1791 in CT and died in Guilford, Chenango Co., NY abt 1853. More Chenango County connections: Lana Irena Bush, my great grandmother, born Apr 1845 Morristown, St. Lawrence Co., NY [daughter of Henry A. Bush & Maria Appel] married Emanuel Joseph Shampang 1860 in Boylston, Oswego Co., NY. & died 1915 in White Store, Chenango Co., NY. & is buried in Evergreen Cemetery, White Store. She had 9 children: three daughters who were born, married & died in Chenango Co. Ida E. Shampang; born 1865 in Boylston, Oswego Co., NY, married Albert J. Young 1882 In Norwich, Chenango Co., NY, & died 1934 in Guilford, Chenango Co., NY was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, White Store. Mary Frances Shampang; born 1870 in White Store, Chenango Co., NY., married George A. Law abt. 1901 In Chenango Co., NY, died 1931 in Guilford, Chenango Co., NY was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, White Store. Jessie M. Wade 1891 in White Store, Chenango Co., NY, & died 1903 in Guilford, Chenango Co., NY was buried in Evergreen Cemetery, White Store. Cora A. Dibble; my great grandmother, born 1863 in Butternuts, Otsego Co., NY [daughter of Russell J. Dibble & Philomena L. Bowers and great granddaughter of Loretta Warner Dibble, of Guilford, Chenango County] married Eugene E. Hendrickson in Gilbertsville, Ostego Co., NY. She died 1947 Gilbertsville, Ostego Co., NY.
