In searching for some family history, I had previously come across this website dedicated to the town of Smyrna, Chenango County, NY. http://frontiernet.net/~rmattes/Home_Page.html Best of all, it has a transcription of local records, including those for many Smyrna area cemeteries. I don't believe there are links to most of these cemetery listings on the traditional Chenango County websites. (Tim, perhaps we could include a link on the Rootsweb / NYGENWEB page for Chenango County?) Hope this helps others as much as it did me. Just an FYI to anyone with an Ancestry subscription - Ancestry just added to their newspaper collection and it now includes the Norwich Sun from 1947-1952. I found a bunch of things out there including a Hine family reunion, a Phillips family reunion and even one reference to myself (I was 2 years old). Max

Hi Ryan, I have James K. Beach marrying Wealtha A. White, daughter of Isaiah and Wealthy Cook White, in 1827 in Chenango Co. He died in Pharsalia 5/19/1882 at age 81. My info if from the Quill and Press Newspaper pages 31-32. It says he was born in Canada in 1801 and came to NO. Pharsalia and then married Wealthy White. Soon after his marriage he moved to McDonough where he resided until about 1839 when he purchased a piece of land in No. Pharsalia and resided upon it until his death. He was a very industrious man. A few year ago being infirm and unable to work, he passed the title of his home to his daughter, Mrs. David White, who has since kindly card for him. When he resided in McDonough he worshiped in the M.E. Church and was for many years the leader of the class. John Beach attended the funeral of his grandfather who would have been 82 years old if had lived until May 25th. John Beach resided in Lincklean. - the newspaper was from the Office of Chenango Co. Historian in Norwich, NY. You can find the transfer of land in the index of Deeds books for Chenango co. also at that office. there children are listed as: Orange Austin Beach b. 3/03/1825 d. 7/7/1898 in Wisconsin, Married Mary Johnson 11/19/1848 in Otselic and #2 Elisa Cox Cunningham in 1875 Pamela M. Beach b. 1830 d 1891 married David D. White in 1847 William J. Beach b. 1832 m. Mariah Hammond Sybel A. Beach b. 1837 m Alonzo White in 1854 Melinda L. Beach b,1829 m. Alva Thompson 1849 #2 m.Oliver Austin White in 1853 I have a listing of the children of the above Beaches if you think it might help you or you are interested. I am not a Beach descendant but rather a descendant of the White family. So this information is not my primary concentration but a kind cousin shared it with me. I'll try to find her name as she is from the Beach family. Marti Randall **************Get trade secrets for amazing burgers. Watch "Cooking with Tyler Florence" on AOL Food.
