July 3rd death of a GALUSHA made me wonder if this family was connected with the western Chenango family whose daughter was drowned by a man in upstate New York - Moose Lake, was I believe its name. August 7th death of child Freddie Brooks has an interesting end: "... thus does hope exalt the Genie of the past into the Genie of the future. Memory and hope! 3. Neil, I'm Town Historian for Smyrna, N.Y . My source is from the original vital records book here in Smyrna. One might say we got lucky. Murry was the last post in this book on Feb. 14 1914 for some reason they must have started a new book. It's possible when Murry remarried it could have been In Sherburne and may be recorded there. Carmenia WHITE and Mary COOPER's death may also be recorded there. A mystery to me is Hattie is listed as buried in the Smyrna West Cemetery yet her name is also on Murry's stone on West Hill Sherburne. I get to Sherburne often and will check the records there if it's something that will help you out. Robert Matteson Town Historian Smyrna N.Y Neil Boyden Tanner wrote: >Thank you for doing this. The information I am seeking all relates to Murray B. BOYDEN. Murray was married to Hattie A. BROWN and she died May 2, 1898. He then married Carmenia WHITE on Jan 25 1899. Carmenia White Boyden seems to have died that year as he then married Mary COOPER in 1899 or 1900. In particular, I'm trying to locate Murray's parents' birthplace so I'm hoping you have some clues in these records. Could you look at any of these three marriages of Murray or the death notices of the first two wives to see if there are any clues in your records? This is my "brick wall" so any help is greatly appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 2. Tim Stowell
    3. I've a request from a museum seeking information on a War of 1812 soldier. They believe he was from central New York and are seeking further information regarding him. The soldier's name was Elim Benedict. Since this surname seems to show up in Chenango and Madison counties as well as Onandaga, I'm guessing it shows up in Cortland as well. Does anyone have further info on this person? I have found a Elicum Benedict in Coventry, Chenango in the 1810 census which makes me wonder if that's him. In scouting around the Internet tonight I've not found any good listing of War of 1812 soldiers other than Dan's site which has a couple of companies, but not this name included.
