I always put the names in quotes. The first one that will come up will be Gibert Pettis Missing in Korea, Binghamton NY Press August 22, 1950. Nice article and even has a picture of him. Handsome young man, but all our young men that lost their lives in that action were handsome young men. Also, the Pettis obits you are trying to find might possibly be in the Binghamton Press. It's worth a phone call to them, or even a letter, to see if they can find what you need. Good luck. 3. Looking for any info. She was born about 1869 in Lewis Co., NY. Husband was Will Beckwith and they had a daughter, Maude, born Jan 1889 in Oneida Co., NY. She and Will split; date unknown. It was reported that Mary then went to Chenango Co. By 1900 apparently they had split since daughter, age 11, and Will are living in boarding houses. Truth Seeker

Author: JodiGooch Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.chenango/1323.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: In December 1976 there was an announcement in the newspaper in Peru, Miami, Indiana for her parents (Charles & Sally Chapman)50th anniversary. It lists all of her siblings that were living at the time. As part of the announcement, it said "They have reared ten children all of whom arrived at mature age and married; all but two are still living." Mary Ann and her sister Phoebe (who died between 1860-1866) are the two not accounted for. There was no history of her marrying in Indiana, even though the records for that county in Indiana are wonderful for that time period. I've been digging here in Smyrna records and haven't found anything of use. Plymouth is another story! This town has no Historian at the present time, hasn't had an active one for some years now. In the past I have traveled over the Town Line to research for people, but most times I was not much help to them. In your post you said she died before 1876, what is your source for this ? If you could give out a little more tidbit of information It may help me find something of use to you. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: JodiGooch Surnames: Chapman Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.chenango/1323/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I am looking for the marriage and death information for Mary Ann Chapman, daughter of Charles and Sarah Chapman. Her family lived in Plymouth & Smyrna, Chenango County, New York from around 1800 to about 1860 when they moved to Indiana. She was born in about 1829 and she was still single and living there with her parents in 1850, but she did not move to Indiana with them. I am pretty sure she got married in New York between 1850-1860, then died before 1876. I am trying to find out who she married and when, and when and where she died. Any help or suggestions would be appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. 1. Re: [NYCHENAN] Family of Ichabod White - Norwich
    2. I, too, have collected data on Ichabod White as well as on all the other early White families of Chenango Co in a search for the fellow who married my aunt Eunice Root about 1797 in Chenango Co. He is said in a biography in Lenawee Co, MI, to have been Daniel White, "lawyer, judge in Oxford, Chenango Co". They are said to have had son Josephus (4th son) b Williamson, Wayne Co NY 5 Aug 1808 d Lenawee Co 4 Oct 1880 m 16 Dec 1834 Sarah BIDDLE. Both parents are said to have died in Wayne Twp, Erie Co, PA, but I've failed to find evidence for this or for any confirmed record of Daniel and Eunice anywhere! Always hoping someone has heard of this particular White family. charlie

    1. [NYCHENAN] Bainbridge phone/city directories - late 1930s?
    2. Noi Liang
    3. Hi everyone, Just wondering if anyone out there knows of any Bainbridge phone or resident directories from the late 1930s that would be available to look through? I have a small mystery on my hands involving the whereabouts of my great-grandparents from 1935-1939 or so just before she died. Would a library or the historical society be the best place to look? Thanks! Noi
