Go to this site, click enter, and on the left where you can enter a name, put in "Ralph Dalrymple". I always put the names in quotes. Two will come up, one mentioning son Gerald ill in California during WWII, and an obit for Elizabeth Fleming VanDusen, who lists a surviving sister as Mrs. Ralph Dalrymple of Norwich. Could that be Flora? If so, her maiden name was Fleming. Try them all out--hard telling what you will find. Have fun. Armed with a death date (the closer you are to the exact date, the easier it will be for you) I have traveled to both the Norwich Library (Chenango County, NY) and the New York State Library in Albany, both of which have archive microfilm of the Norwich papers, and checked out the microfilm corresponding to the date range needed. Then it is just a matter of reading the papers until you find an obituary (if you are lucky). Very often it does not happen. It is unfortunate that these papers are not scanned and online like many others. Look for her death certificate. If it gives a state, or city, in Mexico where she was born, then there is a good chance of finding a civil or church birth/baptism record. If the family came from Baja California, Mexico, then she may be descended from a famous William Walker who filibustered and took control of La Paz, BC, for three months in 1853 before the Mexican army drove him out. William was executed in 1860 in Honduras at age 36. -----Original Message----- From: nychenan-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nychenan-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Vincent E. Still looking for my THOMPSON ancestors who came out of Chenango county in the mid-1840s. James (father) was a stone mason, his wife Melissa or Malissa (GERRY), daughter Georgia Emma Sarah Sabrina born 1844 NY. Elder son Charles was born 1846 in Milan, Huron, OH; from then on, have been able to trace the family fairly well -- to Toledo OH, Wahoo NE, Glenwood Springs CO, Malibu CA, ... But Chenango county has been the problem -- just too many THOMPSONs. Ken Thompson St Louis MO

In subsequent censes, a Lavina Stanton (BD ~1817 in MA: DD 16Oct1872) & her son, James H. Stanton (BD 1840)live w/ her. I have found record of a Lavinia Cadwell marrying a John Stanton on 26MAr1836. Their 1st son, George, was born 26Aug1837. I know an Orrin Cadwell resided there in 1840, but no add'l names were presented in that census. W. I have learned that Orrin served in the War of 1812, & was injured in combat @ the Battle of Lundy's Lane, Gen Winfield Scott, & received war pension for his service. I need to find if those I am aware of are tied to those I am not. I have followed James Stanton's census records through to 1910 in N! orwich. Waldo actually built machinery for various uses - one of his inventions was a log loader that was attached to the log truck.
