Now I didn't think of that. That is quite interesting. I did notice on the census the date of emigration to the US as 1904. Does the O at the end of a Mexican name denote female? That might help seal it. I think it is the Baptismal because the Adella in Gilbertsville, Butternuts Township, Otsego, NY in 1910 her mother is listed as Charmline but also as a possible Bar??Dino at Ancestry.com. The mother on the baptismal is Bernandino Gonzales father Enrique Wheeler. They probably decided to all use the father's surname to avoid confusion and fit in. Just found on http://www.fultonhistory.com , but year1950 "Adella Tefft" , a kindergarten student, complete with picture, and dark hair. Wonder if she would be a grandchild named after Adella? There are a number of WHEELERs in both Otswego and Chenango. Now the babies were born between 1910 and 1917 - she supposedly died in 1917. There are Addie Wheelers, but I'm not finding her. The closest one was 5 in 1880, and she would have been too old, plus she married someone else and died well after the correct person. It's one of those between databases persons. I'm not certain when she was born, but if the usual applies, probably about 1889 - 1895. Once again the 1890 census would have been so fine! It's my guess based on what I've been told so far that Mexico was the New York location. However, I'm not dismissing the country. It just seems so much more likely to be NY. Vince, James Teft (Left) is in the 1920 Oxford, NY census. He is widowed and the three children's mother is listed as being born in Mexico. Which would indicate Mexico the country. First, get her death certificate. If it does not show state in Mexico, then she probably has a Naturalization Certificate. The application for that should show area she originated from. Once you have a Mexican state or city, and approximate birth date, we can go from there. Her father cautioned her not to marry an American, so sure enough, she did. Now to find her, but how?
