In order to own land the person had to file a deposition that he is a resident in, and intends to become a citizen of the United States as soon as he can be naturalized and he has applied to obtain naturalization. About 23 Feb 1838 David Huddleston made this deposition in Chautauqua County, New York. I would like to have a copy of this deposition. I understand these depositions were filed in the office of the Secretary of State of New York. Has anyone on the list obtained one of these depositions? I would appreciate advice as to how to obtain the deposition made by David Huddleston.
