I find your name everywhere I look in Chautauqua County. It has made my search much easier. The reason that I believe Polly was not actually Truman & Lydia's is that in both the census's for 1900 (Polly M Hamilton living with Clark) and 1920 (Clark & Minnie's record) her county of origin says "Canada Eng" and "Canada/English". It doesn't seem likely that there would have been so much a distinction if she were the daughter of natural born US citizens, who "happen" to be in Canada when she was born. I would love to believe that she was, in fact, the blood daughter of Truman and Lydia... she is my family's link to the Mayflower descendants.
