A mention of the horse-drawn sidewalk plows usually brings forth a story or memory from someone who lived in Jamestown during the first six decades of the 20th century. here is the link to this total article, http://post-journal.com/page/content.detail/id/517735.html?nav=5004 no pix of horse here but one driver is named here The frame is oak, the sideboards are plywood and it was built to be used by a small horse. It was built in the city carpenter shop by Anton Anderson. The other heavy oak plows were built by A. Martin Danielson, who was the city carpenter for over 40 years. The city blacksmiths, who made and kept the steel work in repair, were Oscar ''Barney'' Peterson and later Oscar ''Stockfish'' Gustafson. They were the men responsible for making and maintaining these much used and necessary pieces of equipment. At one time, there were 32 routes within the city with three plows kept in reserve. One snow plow operator was Roger C. Anderson who began plowing at the age of 12. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
