Am not sure what to make of the first article. The second article indicates that Susan Butcher a likely sister of your Robert H Goate (wife Elizabeth Lee). My files show another possible brother of Robert H Goate was William Smith Goate. Some of his descendents had a name change to Goot and reside in the Stockton area. William Smith Goate's children were William H, Mabel, and Mary Dunkirk Observer 25 jul 1923 Letters of administration upon the estate of Robert Goate, late of the town of Pomfret, were granted to Robert H Goate, Jr and William H Goate. The value of his estate is estimated at $4,000. The heirs named in the petition are two sons of the decedent, and nine grandchildren. John L Campbell of Brocton was the attorney. 8 may 1935 The court admitted to probate the will of Susan S Butcher of the town of Pomfret. Susan S Aldrich of Fredonia, a niece, is the executrix. Value of the estate is at $1,000 and upwards in both real and personal property. The will leaves $500 to William Goate of Stockton, a nephew, and directs that the estate be divided into 28 parts to be distributed as follows: Ten parts to the executrix; two parts to Frank S Aldrich of Fredonia, one to Richard Aldrich of Syracuse, a grandnephew, one to Roy S Aldrich of Syracuse, a grandnephew, one to Edith H Aldrich of Fredonia, a grandniece, one to Donald P Aldrich of Fredonia, a grandnephew, one to Susan Taylor of Fredonia, a sister-in-law, one to Eliza Renton/Benton? of England, a sister-in-law; one to Mary Ann Tight of England, a sister-in-law; one to Richard Ayres of Fredonia, a nephew, two to Mabel Goate-Woods of Fredonia, a niece, two to Mary Goates-Woods of Fredonia, a niece, one to Susan P Poole of Fredonia, a grandniece; one to the Old Ladies Home in Fredonia, and one to William S Stearns of Fredonia.
