The first settlers on this area were JOHN WILLIAMS 1804, BENJAMIN BARRETT, SETH COLE,** RICHARD DOUGLAS AND RUFUS LANDON IN 1805 in 1830 the town of Pomfret is one Richard DOUGLAS(S) aged 50-60 with a lot of males in house 1 5-10 2 -15-20, 3 males 20-30, and 4 females with wife one son is buried in Forest HIlls in Fredonia, listed as LEDYARD, b 1811 son of Richard and Mary also b here but no dates are found evidently only monuments remain see the web site for the family and they are some buried as DOUGLAS some as DOUGLASS ZATTU, Brother HIRAM , live beside father RICHARD in 1840 each is now a head of house, in Pomfret here all sp DOUGLASS Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
