For off-line sources, there are city directories. I don't recall what years were available but the special collections room at the Reed Library at the Fredonia SUNY campus has several for the area. Newspaper accounts might also mention such as birth, marriage, death announcments within that time frame. Ancestry does have quite a bit of the Dunkirk paper scanned, including the 1924 time period.
