Oberg, 96, of the Lutheran Retirement Home, formerly of 206 Maplecrest Ave, Lakewood and 6 Ivy Lane, Lakewood, died at 9:58 a.m. Monday (Oct. 3, 2005) in the nursing home. She was born on Sept. 8, 1909, in Warren, the daughter of Alfred and Hannah Carlson Magnuson. She was the widow of John C. Oberg, whom she married June 20, 1942, and who died Sept. 12, 1991. She was a 1927 graduate of Jamestown High School, and was employed as a secretary by the Chautauqua County Patrons Fire Relief Association for many years, retiring in 1977. She was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church and was active in the Homebuilders, Hillcresters, choir and was a third-grade Sunday school teacher for 27 years. She was also a member of American Association of Retired Persons and Lakewood Busti Golden Agers, a volunteer with Retired Senior Volunteer Program, a life member of Lakewood Parent Teacher Association and a former member of Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 American Legion Auxiliary. She is survived by a daughter, Joyce P. Saxton of Falconer; three sons: John A. Oberg of Jamestown, Dean R. Oberg of Snyder and Randall L. Oberg of Fairfield, Calif; eight grandchildren:! seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild; and a sister Carolyn Pillsbury of Jamestown. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Todd A. Oberg; a sister Margaret Hager Carlson; and two brothers: Leonard and Arnold Magnuson, Sr. Burial will be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery.
