Wednesday (May 4, 2005) in Heritage Village Health Care Center. She was born May 17, 1919, in Jamestown, the daughter of Glen H. Solomonson and Maude Thoren Solomonson Eckberg. She was a 1938 graduate of Jamestown High School. Prior to retiring, she had been employed as a bookkeeper and office worker by the former Bigelow's Department Store, and in earlier years had worked at the Dunlap Tire Co. and L-S Aero Marine. She attended Camp Street Un- ited Methodist Church, and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority, Southern Tier Por- celain Painters, Chautauqua County Porcelain Painters, and the Chautauqua County Artists Society. She was also active with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, with which she took pets from the SPCA to visit patients in area nursing homes. She is survived by five nieces: Anita J. Juul of Manassas, Va., Karen B. Nobbs of Jamestown, Sarah A. Eckberg of Fairfax, Va., Am! y K. Tribble of Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany, and Lisa J. Morrow of Surprise, Ariz.; four nephews: Kurt C. and Eric R. Eckberg, both of Jamestown, David T. Eckberg of Warrenton, Va., and Karl R. Eckberg of Marlton, Va.; two cousins: Dr. Robert E. Helgren of Larchmont, N.Y. and Geneva H. Fisher of Jamestown; and a dear friend, Kathleen I. Swanson of Jamestown. She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert A. Swanson, whom she married in 1939 in Jamestown, and who died Aug. 11, 2001; and by two brothers: Charles T. Eckberg and Glen E. Solomonson.
