Hedgepeth, 87, of the Lutheran Retirement Home, formerly of 65 Adams St., died at 7:20 p.m. Saturday (Jan. 22, 2005) in WCA Hospital. A Jamestown native, she was born June 3, 1917, the daughter of Otto I.F. and Albertina Hanson Johnson. She was a 1934 graduate of Jamestown High School. Moving to Norfolk, Va. in 1944, she was employed by Texaco Corporation as an executive secretary. She later worked for Texaco in Atlanta, GA and Richmond, VA. While in Norfolk, she was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church, where she served as organist for 40 years. Returning to Jamestown in 1986, she was a member of Zion Covenant Church and was a former member of Ingjald Lodge 65 IOV. She was a longtime member of the Texaco Retirees Association. She will be deeply missed by her nieces, nephews and best friend Erma Desmond. She was an accomplished pianist and organist who loved music and often played and sang during many family gatherings. She always maintained close connections to her husband's family in Southampton County, Va., especially her niece, Nancy Hargrave Nagle Bolio of Richmond. She is survived by 1! 4 nieces and nephews: Gary M. Johnson, Rebecca Johnson, Mary Shaffer, June Hoyt, Linda Newark, Allison, Dale and Lee Frye and Pearle Donelson, all of Jamestown, Steven M. Johnson of Mayville, Dana Johnson of Bemus Point, Pamela Triscari of Anna Maria, Fla., Sue Dart of Cathedral City, Calif., and Judy Kidd of Trenton, Mo. She was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Hedgepeth, whom she married Dec. 14, 1949, and who died June 13, 1987; two brothers: Marshall L. Johnson in 1986, Milton C. Johnson in 1989; and two sisters: Vivian Johnson in 1949 and Delores Frye in 2001. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery, Jamestown, NY.
